Hussain Rasheed, fondly known as Sendi, is a Maldivian diving pioneer and one of the country’s most respected marine experts. With over four decades of experience in the diving and tourism industry, Sendi has played a key role in shaping sustainable diving practices and promoting marine conservation in the Maldives. As the first PADI Course Director in the Maldives, he has trained countless dive professionals who continue to serve across resorts and islands today. His leadership in marine education, coral restoration, and community-based eco-tourism has made him an influential figure both nationally and internationally. Sendi now serves as Senior Consultant for SDM Ventures Pvt Ltd, guiding the Coral Reef Islanders and Huvadhoo Gate initiatives with his vast knowledge of reef ecosystems, ocean safety, and sustainable diving operations. His mission aligns perfectly with SDM Ventures — connecting local youth with opportunities in marine research, coral rehabilitation, and ocean entrepreneurship.
